Magic in ancient Egypt, Heka:
The ancient Egyptian language did not know the word “religion” that we know today.
The closest Egyptian word to the word “religion” is the word “Heka.”
Which is usually translated as "magic". Alan Garender writes:
(From the ancient Egyptian point of view, there was no such thing as “Religion”, but there was “Heka”, and the closest word in the English language to the concept of “Heka” is the word “magical powers”).
And Heka - like that of Maat - is one of the cosmic concepts, and it appeared in Egyptian art in the form of a "
divine being".
And one of the most important features of the Egyptian civilization is that it looked at Heka.
It is a “divine entity” and not a science in the sense that in order for a person to know the “Heka,” he must enter into a relationship with him, and communicate with him directly.
It came in the texts of the coffins that “Heka” says about himself that his existence lies In the word Atum, the eternal, creative one who brought the ntro (divine beings / cosmic forces) into existence.
Heka describes himself as the divine energy that embraces everything that is determined by the divine will in eternity.
“Heka” plays the role of the divine power inherent in the word creation, thus giving life to all nitros (divine beings / cosmic forces) and being dominant over them.
Heka is not only considered the father and origin of all nitro, but he is also considered the father of all that comes into being.
Heka is the divine power that permeates everything that exists, whether it is in the world of spirit or in the world of matter.
The ancient Egyptian artist was depicting a scribe in the form of a man holding two whales in his fists and holding them as they crossed over his chest, and he carried a sign in the form of a crouching lion carried on a mast above his head, and the symbol of the crouching lion from its meanings (the creative word, or creation by the power of the word ) .
In some scenes, itching appeared while carrying the body of “Nut” (the sky).
It separates it from “Jeb” (the earth), and thus it performs the role that “Shu” (air) used to play.
And by separating the heavens from the earth, beings of a spiritual nature can be embodied in the world of matter.
Hakka is the cosmic force through which what is spiritual can become incarnate
Hakka is the link between the mind of God (the cosmic mind) Atom and everything that emanates from that cosmic mind.
And in order to understand “Heka” we must always remember these two adjectives that are inherent in it:
First: Heka is the creative divine force that permeates all existing things in the world of spirit and also the world of matter.
Second: Heka is the connecting link through which all the spiritual and material levels of existence can establish direct contact with each other, and it is the vehicle through which beings move between the different levels of existence (spiritual and material).
French researcher Christian Jacques says in a study he conducted on magic in ancient Egypt:
*** Magic can be defined as the eternal cosmic energy that surrounds all the different dimensions of the universe, whether the spiritual dimensions inhabited by the nitro (divine beings) or the physical dimensions inhabited by embodied creatures such as humans. Spirit and matter were woven from a single origin in eternity.
The most important thing in practicing magic is that the magician realizes that fine thread that connects all dimensions of the universe and unites all creatures and links them in one cosmic chain. ***
The mastery of the science of magic depends on a deep understanding of the energy of Heka, harmony with it, and the activation of this hidden energy at the appropriate times.
And in order for a person to achieve this, he must follow the path of those who know the esoteric sciences and develop his spiritual abilities, in order to be able to use the universal magical powers.
That is because personalism and ego can never dominate the world of nitro (divine beings) only Haka can dominate nitro, and issue them commands.
The magician is that person who was able to make of himself a channel through which the magical energy of Heka flows.
And we find an example of this in the text of Al-Ahram, where it came on the tongue of King Bibi
(I am not the one who throws these words to you, O Nitro, but it is Heka who throws them to you).
And in this example, we find that the king himself has transformed into “Heka”, and that
It's the only way he can dominate the nitro.
